‘ This property is a total find! Everything is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. We were here during Storm Eunice and I can’t imagine a more cosy, comfortable place to be holed up for a weekend. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are beautiful. Great wifi. Well-stocked kitchen with sharp knives. Lots of space for teenagers to spread out and lounge. Big dining room table that’s great for family meals and games. ’

The attention to detail in the design of the accommodation is exquisite, and you can tell the thought that went into designing it and adding finishing touches, right down to the toiletries, the deckchairs and the blankets! Not that we needed them, as it was a scorcher! Gorgeous garden, amazing views and lovely South Downs walks on the doorstep. Would thoroughly recommend! ’

‘ The barn is absolutely amazing and the owners have clearly invested a lot of money in making a wonderful space to relax and enjoy and it has been done to a very high specification. I know the weather has been mixed but it has been lovely to relax here … the sofas are so comfy and we love all the bright cheerful cushions and sheepskin rugs. It is so cosy and warm and the views across the fields are just stunning … it is truly peaceful and very scenic. I have taken note of some of the suppliers and I shall be in contact with Sanderson when I get home to get some blinds made up for my new kitchen doors. I always get inspiration when I come to these lovely homes.

I loved cooking with the EverHot …. I have an induction range at home but not the Aga style so it was nice to have go so to speak with the hot plate. The reading/quiet area upstairs is such a special space and the little sun balcony too.

‘ We had a fantastic weekend and thought the Grain Store was amazing, we had wet and windy weather and couldn’t think of a better way to get together with our sons and family after such a long time not being together. Everything was there for us and the whole place just oozes style and quality- the view from the windows is wonderful whatever the weather, the place warm and comforting. ‘ The Grain Store is perfectly located right on the South Downs way - just step outside the door and you can walk for hours or just take a quick stroll. The house has been beautifully and thoughtfully fitted. As very keen cooks, we were particularly impressed with the quality of the kitchen equipment.

Machines and gadgets are all great brands and there has clearly been a great deal of thought (and money) spent on ensuring that there is everything needed to provide meals for large and small numbers. This is, in our experience, very unusual in a rented property, where there are usually very few good knives, cheap glasses and crockery and insufficient utensils, cook and bakeware. Not here. If you like the finer things, come to The Grain Store. ’

Soon after we had arrived we started to feel like we have come to our ‘country home’ – surrounded by spectacular countryside & views, with access to all the bits & pieces we would ever need & wish for & having easy access to all the comforts of our own homes!

‘ Less than 10 minutes from Lewes, but about as tucked away as a place can be. The location may seem unlikely (just off the A27), but rest assured you couldn't feel any more cocooned and off-the-beaten-track once inside, with nothing but South Downs fields and sky for your view. Beautifully appointed throughout (with an especially impressive kitchen, which has given us a few ideas for our own), this is the perfect place to leave it all behind. ’

‘ Recently converted beautifully into a stylish, luxurious holiday home the Grain Store is a very comfortable place to stay. No expense appears to have been spared with much of the decor locally sourced from local businesses. It's the views though, that make it so special - out of its large south-facing windows you can't see anything except the stunning South Downs and a wide expanse of sky. A joyful place to visit after months of lockdown. ’

‘ My friends and I stayed at the Grain Store for 4 nights and we had the loveliest time. The views over the South Downs rolling hills are truly incredible and we were able to make the most of them thanks to the house’s impressive floor-to-ceiling windows. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere that scenic! We also loved being able to just go for a walk from the back of the garden. It made for an utterly peaceful and restorative atmosphere.

The house was spotlessly clean and of a very high standard, both in terms of equipment and decoration. The beds were extremely comfortable with incredibly plush duvets, and the bathrooms were luxurious with rain showers and a wonderful bathtub in the ground floor bathroom - perfect to relax after a day of exploring! The kitchen was extremely well equipped and a great space to cook and hang out. We had several meals at the house and particularly enjoyed the gas BBQ and eating on the terrasse, soaking in the views. The living room area was just as stunning as the rest: beautiful light and an amazingly comfortable L-shaped sofa with more than enough space for everyone to unwind!

I am so glad I found this gem and I will definitely be back! PS: If you’re staying there, I’d definitely recommend getting some seafood from Bikerstaff’s in Lewes and getting the BBQ going! ’

‘ We had a wonderful stay, thank you very much! We found the house extremely comfortable and we were impressed with everything being so high-end, down to the little details. The kitchen is super well equipped and very pleasant, it was perfect for us. We loved that it was all open plan and that we could cook and chat with the rest of our group lounging in the living room at the same time. We also really enjoyed using the great BBQ and eating outside with the wonderful views!

Listing your suppliers in your handbook is a great idea! I actually loved the duvet in my room so much that I would like to buy the same one for my home. All the essentials that The Grain Store provided went beyond our expectations. Overall, we were all delighted with our stay - we would happily return and would definitely recommend The Grain Store to our friends and families! It's a really amazing space and I think I can safely say it's the nicest holiday accommodation I've ever stayed in. ’

‘ The Grain Store Lewes is about 60 miles south of London and is easy to reach. Lewes is located in one of the most beautiful hilly landscapes in southern England. The Grain Store, which has been converted with a lot of taste, empathy and in a modern, cosy design, has the comfort of a four-star hotel (at least) with its four bedrooms. Ideal with several people! The large lounge with its very large window front offers a great view over the fields. The kitchen also allows cooking with 6 people (we practised).

Lewes is easy to reach by car, but also on foot (approx. 2 km). The historic centre has a number of nice restaurants and cafes, shops etc. Brighton is about 15 minutes away by car - a trip is worthwhile for long walks on the beach or on the promenade with fresh sea breezes. The location is ideal as a starting point for visiting the beautiful typical English gardens - unfortunately, a bit early in February. ’

‘ This is my second stay at The Grain Store for work and I couldn’t be more impressed. Every tiny detail is considered from the Hypnos mattresses to the beautiful linens and excellent kitchen equipment. The bathroom is great, with underfloor heating, a capacious bath and a power shower. Rebecca, the manager arranged for milk, bread and basic groceries to be there for my arrival which was great after a long journey. The views are stunning with huge windows all along the front of the property and it is a delight to walk straight out onto the Downs. Bravo, great job, go and stay without a moment’s worry about anything. ’

‘ We absolutely loved our time at The Grain Store so much that none of us wanted to leave! From the moment we arrived having wound our way up the country lane from the main road, we felt in an oasis of calm - our greeting from the Grain Store team and the space itself were both so warm and welcoming we couldn’t help but feel instantly at home.

The space itself is nothing short of luxurious making it an amazingly comfortable place to stay whilst providing inspiration and nourishment for the soul - the light at pretty much any time of the day is just wonderful and being quite literally surrounded by the awesome beauty of the South Downs with its incredible undulating landscape, we couldn’t wait to get out and just be amongst nature. The walking opportunities right from the doorstep must be up there with some of the best in the country.

We came home feeling re-energised and all have special memories of sitting around the table looking out at the beautiful view, playing games, going on walks and visiting the gorgeous little town of Lewes which is just up the road. We are already planning our next stay! ’
