360 Botanics is a Lewes-based apothecary business run by Pip de Villiers. The company produces small batch, vegan skincare and wellness products that nourish both body and soul by utilising the aroma-therapeutic effects of pure plant-based ingredients and essential oils.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your connection with the area.

I moved to Lewes with my family from rural France 8 years ago. We wanted to move back to the UK and to be somewhere close to the coast and also near to our families. We literally chose Lewes after looking at a map! After a couple of trips over to check it out, we felt it would be a perfect place for us and our children to settle. We did move in a couple of days before Bonfire, which was quite a shock to the system - if you don’t know about Lewes Bonfire, just google it!

After moving here I found out that a relative, back in the late 18th century, was a founding director of The Old Lewes Bank - so maybe that’s another reason we ended up here…!

I have known Anni for a few years and was super pleased when she decided to stock 360 Botanics at The Grain Store. Our brands share similar principles, respect for the land and the power that nature has on our wellbeing, along with an appreciation of simple, pared-back beauty.

Tell us about 360 Botanics and how it all started?

My dream to develop my own 'simple yet powerful' product line was ignited when I studied Holistic Aromatherapy. My career over the years has taken various paths, but one thing that has stayed a constant in my life has been formulating and perfecting my blends for friends and family. It’s with their encouragement that the 360 Botanics brand became a reality.

There is plenty of “greenwashing’ in the beauty and skincare industry making it a difficult place to navigate as a buyer. So it’s always been very important for me to be totally transparent with my customers, about the ingredients in my products and my company’s ethos.

We strive to be mindful of our environmental impact and tread lightly wherever possible. We adhere to the minimal principle, believing 'less is definitely more' in all areas of our business, from ingredient selection to mindful labelling and packaging.

Each item is developed and formulated by myself, after which an independent expert certifies them. This is a critical step to guarantee that my customers receive a product that actually contains and ‘does what it says on the tin’!

We are proud to be a 100% vegan & cruelty free brand, all of our products are handmade in small batches at our HQ in Lewes, this ensures freshness - very important for a product range that contains no chemical stabilisers or preservatives. We have won several prestigious awards, including Best Vegan Skincare and most recently a Green Parent Magazine Award for our top selling Rose Beauty Balm.

Our aroma-therapeutic range of products covers everything from cleansing oils, exfoliants, masks and serums through to wellness products such as soy wax candles, therapeutic bath salts and essential oil-infused aroma mists. What’s next for 360 Botanics?

Coming up on Friday 4th November, we have a ‘Meet the Maker’ day at one of our local stockists ‘Seasons’ Wholefoods store in Cliffe High Street, Lewes. If you are in the area, come along and say hello! We will also be at the Artist & Makers Fair in Lewes on the 3rd & 4th of December, this is an annual event we love being invited to, it’s a great chance to meet up with our customers face-to-face and be amongst all the inspirational makers & businesses in the area.

We are currently working on expanding our Stockists around the country and are increasingly working on collaborations and white-label ranges with like-minded companies. Our small hotel and spa range of products are proving very popular as an alternative to the ‘usual’ big brands out there.
