We are lucky in Lewes, the town is brimming with wonderful independent shops.
Part of our ethos at The Grain Store is collaboration with local suppliers, which not only helps towards sustainability, but allows us to be a strong part of the community.
Here are a few of our favourites (there are so many to choose from!) for unique gifts, or maybe a treat for yourself.
Cheese Please
Full of artisan cheese and local produce, this deli is a fan favourite. Specialising in Sussex based goods, they source the very finest foods from small independent producers. They offer an extensive range of artisan British and continental cheeses, accompaniments and gift boxes.
Freight
The simple everyday rituals of home. From clothing, furniture and household goods. A gorgeous store in Lewes selling sustainable products and you can also buy online. We have a number of Freight goods in The Grain Store, from our gorgeous throws to stylish kitchen utensils.

Everything that you find in Victoria has been thoughtfully chosen to be a part of the shop by Victoria herself. Here you can find a unique collection of homewares, houseplants and gifts.
Kings Framers
A family-run business in the heart of the town. Offering an exclusive collection of pressed botanicals created by Peta King, co-founder of Kings Framers along with bespoke and beautiful gifts and cards. Check out their handy online gift guide, where you will find a gift to suit every budget. We have some gorgeous kitchen utensils from this lovely local shop.
Closet & Botts
Vintage-inspired, stylish homewares including clothes, gifts, haberdashery and furniture. Chloe and Harriet’s love of colour and classic design led them to discover the joy of scouring the flea markets in Europe. They continue to find all sorts of vintage treasures to bring home and share with us.
The Laurels
A contemporary lifestyle boutique and gallery in the heart of Lewes Town. Our lovely seat cushions come from this local shop.
Union Music
This boutique record shop sells vinyl, CDs, tickets for gigs, a range of guitar accessories, musical instruments, speakers and record players. Perfect gifts for the music lover in the family.
The Needlemakers
This collection of independent shops is set over three uneven floors, located in a historic building just off the high street. The Needlemakers is perfect for unique gift shopping, or dining in the independent café found in the heart of the building. We particularly love Menteath, a small batch smoke-infused skincare brand.

Lewes has a selection of antique shops to choose from, with endless treasures to be discovered.

Just outside of Lewes, perfect for the whole family, a visit to Farmer Christmas (yes that is right!), and some of the finest local seasonal produce and gifts. A fun day out in the fresh country air, with plenty of photo opportunities, shopping to be done, and fun memories to be made.
