The Grain Store Pledges to Get Nature Positive
The Grain Store Lewes is proud to join business leaders pledging to ‘Get Nature Positive’ to protect and restore the natural world, which we love so much.
Get Nature Positive is a new initiative from The Council for Sustainable Business (CSB), a group of business leaders appointed by the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to develop successful businesses in which nature protection is critical.
The role of the CSB is to act as “environmental champions” within the business community to help educate, inform and ensure a positive approach to nature moving forwards. At the heart of the Get Nature Positive campaign is a Nature Handbook. This toolkit helps committed businesses like The Grain Store Lewes to become more nature positive and to develop sustainable business models.
The campaign is gathering momentum, with over 100 businesses signed up to the pledge, and was featured at the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference (31 Oct - 12 Nov). Leaders were shown a video of all the business leaders committed to ‘Get Nature Positive’ along with an update from the CSB. Brands include Lloyds TSB, SSE, GSK, Marks & Spencers, Burberry and many more.

With the environment central to ways of working at The Grain Store, signing up to the pledge and the handbook is the ideal collaboration says Anni Townend.
She commented: “This is a very powerful campaign that wonderfully fits with our eco ethos and our love of nature. The Grain Store was designed with an eco-conscious approach that runs through everything we do, from the design of the building to the sourcing of materials and supplies and right down to our use of renewable energy.
“We are lucky to be situated in the South Downs National Park with abundant nature on the doorstep. We are passionate about the natural environment, both locally and further afield. As a business, we recognise the importance of continuing to understand our impact on nature and are delighted to be able to collaborate with Get Nature Positive as we continue to grow”
